We had really good success with repetition as well. We never waited for him to be ready, we just took him to the pad every 30 minutes or so. We sat him on the pad and said go pee pee over and over. After 5 minutes, we would go back to doing what we were doing. Couple of weeks and he used the pad exclusively. It takes time and patience. In the end it pays off. It will seem like your not making progress, and then boom, it will click. Key is to not wait until it time to go. Take your dog to the pad when ever you think about it. Get up...to the pad...sit down...to the pad...anytime you do anything...to the pad. It will pay off in the end, and it wont take long.
Our dickie is 5 months and we have not taken him to the pad since he was 14 weeks old. he goes when he needs too. He sleeps in a crate, and waits till i get up at 5am to go...sprint to the pee pad.
Funny thing too. if he has to pee while he is in his crate, he does a light scratch on the wall. If he is unhappy in his crate, he cries, whines, and barks(we ignore this). He trained us to know when he really needs to get out and use the pad. he is very polite when he really needs something

good luck...be patient
