Stories like this leave me so queasy. Does this mean the vet thought the dog need to be put out of its suffering over 3 months ago and the man just couldn't do it then when needed??? Or does it mean he was warned in November that the dog would soon require euthanasia and he brought the baby in when he realized the time had come and pain or other serious symptoms were now present. My mind just goes wild thinking of a pet suffering or having to live on pain medication because of a human's inability to cope with the loss. Not saying that was the case here but when you hear these things - my mind leaps to my sister's former "friend" whose little elderly chihuahua suffered terribly for 6 months because her owner "just cannot bear to be without her and I don't think she really can feel pain like we do"!!!!!! The little thing had bladder cancer and a huge inoperable tumor and couldn't even walk she was to old and ill! I think I remember my sister telling me this woman said she gave the little thing Tylenol or aspirin or something when "she acted like she was hurting". I kept telling/begging/cajoling my sister to call Animal Control but she never did! And I didn't know where the woman lived and my sister wouldn't tell me(early dementia on her part) or I would have! Thankfully, one day my sister told me the little baby chi had finally died.
I do pray that this was not a "can't cope" case, that the poor dog is now resting in peace and the owner finds some healing and peace when possible.
