We do that too!!
Whenever we finish with an old pair of socks, I give them a wash then tie them together in a big knot, then re-knot, and keep re-knotting until it's almost a ball.
Harry's a
big chewer, but this lasts for weeks...it also occupies him trying to undo all those knots
Once he succeeds, I re-wash and re-knot!!!
