This is so scary! NewsFixer investigation prompts Petco to pull dangerous toy from shelves
The dog in the story became sick after getting her new toy and when it was tested, it showed positive for: Trimethyl Benzene, Arsenic, Cadmium and Lead, along with Naphthalene, the main ingredient in moth balls. How many toys do we purchase that have horrible chemicals in them? I wonder how much of what we are giving our dogs is making them sick...if not now, maybe years down the road?I personally try really hard not to buy toys from China and make my best attempt to by American/Canadian made whenever possible. I hope that the things we get for Snickers are safe, but how do we really know? I think sometimes that maybe it's safer to make your own toys, but, even if you were to sew a stuffed toy, for example, is the fabric going to contain these nasty things too?
I couldn't find anything on the Petco website regarding a recall as was stated in the story. I think they (and any other sellers of ANY product that is recalled) need to make that information known and as accessible as possible. |
Yes, it makes me wonder, I think all new toys are going to get a bath first.
