I am very sorry for your loss of your son, and I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see your niece in this situation. A entire lifestyle change would be required and her parents would have to be on board. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions to offer. I would think her pediatrician would impress upon her parents the urgency of the situation and suggest means of help.
