I started thinking the same thing, but I don't feel it's their right to decide that. If the person that took the dog from the clinic did this on the sly then she must be someone that feels so strongly that she knows what's best for the dog that rules don't matter even if it means getting fired. A person like that is often described as a zealot and in the long run does not make the best decisions. I posed this question earlier, what if someone had such strong opinions about who is and isn't a fit pet owner that it clouded their judgment when giving information to a pet owner. The report glossed over this, but the dog was attached by another dog in the home. What if the worker at the vets office felt that patching the dog up and sending it home where it may get attacked again was not in the best interest of the dog. So when given the chance to get the dog away from the owner they may have overstated the injuries a bit. I have no proof, but the holes in the story keep me wondering.
Personally I would not have a large breed dog like a German Shephard or Doberman living with my Lola, but I know there are a lot of YT members that do so without incident. I don't think those members would like being judged by a vet tech on if they were a good pet parent. LOL I should not be thinking up scenarios in my head but I can't help but wonder why someone would risk getting fired when they could have tried to get the owner's permission to surrender the pup. |
I understand what you mean and I mostly agree with you, it's just that I've read so many stories of the cruelty of some pet owners that I no longer assume they all love their pets. The story my friend saw personally, just involved a broken leg, what should a vet do in that case? What if you worked there and saw that the vet had to legally put the dog down, wouldn't you be tempted to do something?
