LOL After 5 yorkies, my list is quite long. Here are some quick things that come to mind
1. Expense, from the purchase price to vet bills and all the other little things, like toys, treats, training classes, etc. I probably could have gone on vacation to Europe, Australia, and the Orient for what I have spent in the last 25 years.
3. Emergency runs at night to the ER vet for stuff like chewing up a lamp cord.
2. Weekly baths and grooming
3. Potty accidents, renting carpet cleaners, needing to the leave the house on time, only to spot at the last min. a pee puddle on the bedroom carpet, having to get rid of all my throw rugs since they were being mistaken for piddle pads.
4. Barking at anything that goes by the house.
5. Worrying every time the front door opens that a dog might escape and in my bare feet and underwear I will have to run down the street after him or her, because no matter how much I spent on training classes a rouge squirrel still makes the best yorkie go weak in the knees.
6. Spending 10 min before I leave the house, closing doors and picking up anything that might find it's way into the mouth of the 6lb living breathing vacuum cleaner.
7. Finding a safe, and not expensive place for them to stay while on vacation.
8. Handing out house keys to half the neighborhood in case I can't get home in time to let the dog out
9. Sleeping on the very edge of the king size bed while the dog sleeps sprawled out sideways in the middle between my husband and I.
10. My husband rubbing my dogs back in the middle of the night instead of mine!
11. And it goes without saying, eventually having to say goodbye forever to the little furball that has stolen your heart.
In spite of all the expense and the things that are a PITA, it goes without saying life without my little sidekick would not nearly be as much fun.
