All of the above and... the lack of responsible dog ownership I see by those who own large dogs. I no longer feel safe walking my four all at the same time, as there is no way I can protect them all from charging loose dogs.
One neighbor will not use a leash on her Rottie. She has spent thousands on reconstructive surgeries as a result of a brother X sister accidental breeding (she was not the breeder) and I just don't 'get' it. What is she trying to prove? The dog in no way has 100% recall, and has gone after two of my dogs. So I have to be sure she is not out when I walk my dogs.
I live on a back road that dead ends at the river. I guess people think it's safe to let their dogs be off leash due to lack of traffic. People also dump their unwanted dogs in this neighborhood. I never know what I'm going to face going out for a walk.
Another neighbor threw a party and a guest came with her two tiny poodles. My neighbor's big dog got out of her yard, went to the party, grabbed and shook one of the poodles killing it instantly, to the horror of all the children and adults that were there and saw it happen.
The whole neighborhood is aware that this happened. I would think the big dog owners would be more careful/considerate with their dogs but, no, it's more my fault for having small dogs that resemble rabbits. |
