I'm not much help as my son is 34 now (not breast fed) but did have colic so bad I still remember it! There was not much that soothed him other than rocking, walking and his pacifier. I learned to rest when he did and did my daily routine while holding him. Your sil is a great resource. The great thing is all of a sudden it was gone.
