Hopefully at 5 months your yorkie will be used to grooming already
it will make it much easier for you.
If not just take it slow when he first comes home.
I groom oscar myself , i started the moment he came home at 12 weeks.
If you get a good yorkie book they usually have a detailed section grooming. You should brush and comb him everyday and clean the corners of his eyes with a damp cloth.
Get a good conditioning grooming spray cause you do not want to brush him completely dry. Just mist his coat before brushing.
I use the chris christensen wooden pin brush.
It is awesome.
Well hope this helps
Thanks. Do you have any recommendations on books?

There is a grooming section here on YT that has some good grooming tips and a few videos.
To start out you should have a metal grooming comb and a good set of dog nail clippers. I would never advise cutting your dogs nails by yourself. And if you have no experience doing it I'd take him to a groomer or vet tech at first.
Thanks
