CGC/Therapy test help Sadie has her CGC test next week as well as her initial temperment testing for Delta. Last week we ran through a practice test and she does everything great except one. She cannot contain herself when a friendly stranger approaches me to shake my hand and ignores her. She is a very friendly girl and wants to go to the evaluator. They are insisting that she not break her sit when they approach. She has a great down stay and actually last week did over a two minute stay with distractions such as dogs barking and class going on around her. She is not nearly as sound at a sit stay. We've decided that the only way that she is going to pass the friendly stranger approach is if I can get her sit stay solid enough that she won't break it when the evaluator approaches. Does anyone have any suggestions?? At this point in class we are no longer using treats since we can't use them for the test. I was thinking about asking the instructor to let me use treats tonight just for this one excercise. I know we have to get away from them but I thought that sense it isn't working right now, just to start from scratch and treat for success and slowly wean her from the treats over the next week. I'm really open to suggestions!!
She should be able to pass her initial temperment testing for Delta the way she is but she definately will have to get this under control in time for the final Delta evaluation - whether she passes her CGC now or not.
