Permethrin causes organophosphate poisoning in kitties. It shouldn't be used anywhere near them.
If I see fleas, on goes the Frontline (it works around here fairly well). If I was going to give something monthly (just for fleas and not for ticks) it would be Sentinel for us. I like it quite a bit.
