Yes, Advantage only works on fleas. I don't think the tick medication would work any better with the Advantix. Gracie doesn't go in the tick infested areas so I don't have the worry about ticks so much for her. I don't want to add another chemical anyway.
I comb her daily and twice daily during the summer so she has done pretty well. Once I started meeting the cats at the door with the flea comb we stopped getting ticks in the house. It's a constant battle during tick season.
