I am the same way. The child needs to be taught not to be aggressive toward the dog. Or the dog will be aggressive toward them. I am glad you did stand behind the pup. And it is ok to be called a PETA loving animal freak.

I am not a member of PETA but I will fight for animal rights within reason.
