I have the Kindle Fire and my Mom has the ipad2. I find that for the price the Kindle fire has everything I need, and for what my mom spent on the ipad she really would have been just as happy with the fire. She does seem to like the size of the ipad because her vision is not that great anymore. I however think the fire is plenty big enough and it's much easier to hold on to for reading, playing games and it's a perfect size to take with me in my purse.
I use mine for games, e-mail, web browsing, and reading. I am also a frequent user of Amazon so it's perfect for me.
