I totally understand wanting to protect your little one but as others have said, it's really for their own good to let them have exercise and sunshine. It's also a good idea to socialize them with people and other dogs. I am sure that you don't want to have a dog that is so isolated that he may be scared or have anxiety when he does have to go out such as to the vet or groomers.
Mine let me know if they want to go for a walk or not...they won't budge once they've had enough of their walk, lol, then it's time to go home. But they do love to head out at first.
