I was not successful with housebreaking Charlie ( he's 16 months) till I put him on a leash. That has worked beautifully for us. He would go out and run and play and come back inside and wet on the kitchen floor!! It was so frustrating to me!
Now I take him out, on his leash, to the same spot and we just stand there till he does his business...I take him out every 2-3 hours. Initially I gave him a treat now I just tell him what a good boy he is!! When inside I have to keep him with me at all times
or he will sneak off to a corner or under the couch..!?!?! I sometimes wonder if he has me trained?? Haha I keep telling myself he is still young, but I do wonder if I will ever totally trust him to be housebroken? I hear so much about yorkies being hard to housebreak...? But for now, the leash seems to be a huge help. I also used belly bands every night in the beginning. That helped teach him to hold it till I took him out in the morning. He did not like wearing that wet!
It is an ongoing effort still but I feel he is making progress!!
Good luck!!
