Betty, There are many different sorts of holiday club membership all with different names.
As you say the sort your friend has is limited to two weeks a year. Often some are limited to one resort only while others have a choice.
Another type is club membership where you can holiday as often as you wish but at a price.
There are many others but most if not all will demand an annual maintenance fee.
Once you are hooked in to this maintenance system there is no way out as it is for life. There are a few which are contracted to a time span like 10 to 25 years but all will increase the maintenance fee every year.
The other type of membership is to join a travel agents club in order to get discounted holidays this is not time share and probably does
not carry a maintenance fee either.
