I don't know how all vets are, but I know if I call mine to ask a question like this the vet tech will talk to Dr. and either the Dr. or the vet tech will call me back with information and/or advice.

As with all medications, ncluding Neosporin and any steroid cream etc., I would consult with a Dr. Neosporin is for external use only, dogs being the lickers that they are...also, there are many documented ramifications of using steroid creams etc.,

There are so many things that can go wrong with our little ones. I would opt for the xray to rule out all the other possibilities first. After that, I would then proceed with all the other safe home remedies.

Not to mention the xray would give you some peace of mind.

When any dog presents with sudden symptoms, especially as you described, something is obviously not right, you've already tried many things, get the xray to alleve your fears. You know your baby better than anyone, what does your gut tell you?

Good Luck
