Dickie had used nothing but a pee pad his first 5 weeks with us. we kept him sheltered until he had all his shots. after his last set, we took a trip to San Antonio to meet his grandma and her two dogs. wanted to get him socialized. his longest car ride had been 30 minutes to vet, so we worried about an 8 hour ride. he picked up pee pads within a week, so we figured he would get the grass pretty quick too. not so. we stopped every 30 minutes for the first 5 hours to no avail. he had fun, but he would not pee or poop. frustrating because we knew he had to go. he did not go the entire trip. must have hurt....
after 5 minutes in the back yard at grandmas house, after seeing the other dogs pee, he let loose.
on the way home, he peed everytime we stopped.
I was worried he might not use the pads when we got home, but as soon as we walked in, he ran straight to the pad and peed. since he has had all his shots we have started walking a couple times per day, and he has no probably going outside. if he is I.side, he uses the pad, when we walk, he uses the grass.
not sure how to duplicate this, but watching the other digs outside definetly made a big difference.
