I heard/read so many negative things about the lepto shot when I got ZoE. And even her breeder had the DHPP done (without lepto or it would be DHLPP) and made note of it on her shot records that it was specifically without Lepto. So when our vet wanted to give ZoE the Lepto shot at our first shot visit, I freaked!

Thankfully, our vet is wonderful and not pushy. He gave me lots of information to read and said that there have been lepto cases in Michigan, explained how it is transmitted and that is it a zoonotic disease (can be spread to humans) and said he would highly recommend ZoE get it and also stated that he gives the shot to his own dogs. So I went home, researched, read all the info. he provided and then scheduled an appointment to get it done.
