Sadly the smaller the gene pool the more likely health problems are to happen. Pure breed dogs got that way because people choose what dogs were alowed to mate.
My Noah was never sick untill he was 17 years old. He got skin cancer. It was treated and he lived to be 18 years 7 months. He never was treated for any illness before the cancer.
