Brew went in for his snippy on January 6. They kept him overnight which i think was great because he needed the down time i think. he is 7 months old and 9 pounds.
he was pretty well back to normal when i picked him up the next morning. he ate normally and went to the bathroom normally (which is something our vet said to watch for...some get the runs, some get backed up)
One tip out vet said to me was to try to take him out to the bathroom on a leash for the first 5 days or so, so that he is not ripping around too much.
i found it tricky to keep him from jumping up on things. he didn't seem to think he was in recovery mode.
His stiches came out the following Saturday and that took all of 10 seconds.
the craziest part of it was when we went back in to the vet to get the sitches out, he was actually wagging his tail and happy to be in there! he has always been so nervous at the vet, i thought after the big snip he would be 10 times worse. NOPE tail wagging away as the vet took him in.
Your boy should do just fine.
oh one more thing i learned from Yorkie talk was to get bloodwork done before the surgery to make sure all his levels are in line. My vet didn't even mention it to me, but when i brought it up they said it was a great idea. (i think most people are just trying to get out of there for a cheap as possible)
Good luck!!!
