If someone asks, we should tell them. By the way, no one ever said the amount of money you pay will guarantee a dog free of health problems. Not every breeder who shows is reputable either, far from it. You are increasing your "chances" of getting a healthy dog, if you go to a
reputable breeder. Not only that, but a reputable breeder will do what she can to help you with an unhealthy dog, such as returning the price paid, if the dog suffers from a genetic ailment, and allowing you to keep the dog, if that's what you wish. I don't think a pet store will do that. Most importantly this isn't even about the puppy, as I said before, her puppy may be perfectly fine, it's about the breeding dogs left behind.
