If the dogs had access to the main part of the car they certainly would have been plainly seen by the people who wanted to rescue them. If they broke the window or opened it some other way the electronic alarm would have gone off and locked the trunk. We had that happen not too long ago when a friend locked his keys in the trunk of his car while traveling. He called the police who came and opened the car for him but it set the alarm off and the locks locked up again including the trunk.
I suppose they could have waited a bit longer to see if the owners would come out to the car. It seems strange that these people had so much money but couldn't afford some carriers to put these dogs so they could travel safely in the car. A dog should never be allowed to roam freely in a car while it is moving. It seems a carrier would be a better idea than locking them in a dark trunk to keep them from unlocking the door. |
