I did a lot of reading on google when I first started teaching Lilo.
when we taught her to shake I would hold my hand out and use my other hand to hold the treat over my other open palm. Usually when I did this Lilo would put both her front paws on my hand to reach for the treat, then I would just grasp one paw say "good shake" then treat her. there are are many variations on how to teach shake. I would look on you tube for tutorial ideos until you find the one that works best for Bear and you.
