Embarassed Who gets the blame???

I am at a loss. I have had Kady a little less than a month and she has given me a run for my money. This little girl came with problems!!! First she had worms, tape worm, and some other paracite and the breeder would not help with the costs, in fact I called them once to tell them and I havent been able to reach them again. She is now completly healthy, my vet recommended treating both Homer & Kady so that that stuff doesnt get passed back and forth. Kady seems to be a lot more stubborn than Homer ever was. She is not doing well with the potty training on the potty pads. We have tried just about everything.... We do everything to celebrate making it on target but light fireworks She does great one day and forgets everything for 2. Usually when I leave I put Kady in her aread that is blocked off, I feel bad because it seperates Homer and Kady from playing but then I dont have to worry about accidents all over the house. Well today I went out for a few hours and didnt lock her up. , I got home and immediately I knew something was up.... Usually I hear the two dogs barking as I pull into the garage and Homer is waiting at the door for me.... This didnt happen. I walked in, put my bags down to see why it was so quiet, I came around the corner and Homer was in the farthest corner from me sitting and shaking... (he hates for me to be upset with him... he is VERY sensitive) and Kady was sitting on the opposite side of the room from Homer. I look down and I am looking at my carpet pulled up from the floor... row by row Now my first instinct is OMG my husband is not going to be very happy. You see we used to live in an apartment and Homer at about a 12'x12' square up carpet up, (you could see the boards and nails underneath). This happened when was about 5 months old, and since we moved into the house with a backyard he has never done it again. This was Kady's first time home alone with out being put in her area... I know I shouldnt have done that... I just wanted them to be able to play I just dont know who did it. If Kady has a potty accident Homer acts like he has done something wrong.. He is just a very emotional little guy. So I dont know if he is acting like he is in trouble because he knows that it is REALLY BAD to eat the carpet or what?? I just dont know what to do. When Homer ate the carpet before, he got in trouble, if Kady ate the carpet I cant say for sure that it was her so I refuse to punish either of them, but now is Homer going to think that it is ok??? I dont know what to do? I cant seem to potty train Kady and I dont want to send mixed signals to Homer.... HELP!!! I am sorry for going on and on, I just dont know where else to turn.
