I, too, had to learn the dangers of walking using a collar. My Marley was about two when I adopted him. He had never been walked on a leash, and I was determined that he would learn walking manners (aka Dog Whisperer)... Well... he pulled, and I resisted. After four or five days of this, Marley began to honk like a goose. Scared the daylights out of me. Had never heard of collapsed trachea, but got a speed lesson on it that day. I felt so bad. Now I only use halters, and only those that sit low on the chest. Good advice.
