Gizmo just turned 1 year old and he hasn't lost all of his puppy hair. The reason I know is his hair on the ends is wiry and black for maybe 1/2 inch. Then it is beige or a lighter black (it might even be blue but too soon to tell) and that hair is softer. Now here is my question. I have noticed that most of the dogs on here lose there puppy hair much sooner. Is Gizmo behind because he was under nourished the first year? The shelter records show he was 4.5 lbs when he was picked up, but I find this hard to believe when he was 8 lbs approx, 10 days later when we adopted him and weights 9lbs 9 oz last Tuesday. Or is he behind because he is a mix? I am also wondering if he might be a Silky Terrier because he is 13 inches long and 10 inches high at his shoulders and almost 10 lbs. I love this forum it has helped me so much. Thank you for any thoughts you have.
