The all inclusive resorts I have been to would never allow dogs. Not everyone loves them and wouldn't want to deal with doggie issues. Kinda like young kids - if you go to an adult only resort- there is a reason.
We are also going to the DR this year - where are you staying? We're going to the Hard Rock.
Anyway, I didn't know what to do with my pup either but having someone house/petsit is what we did and it was great to keep Brutus in his own environment.
