Oh ok so your bring the puppy home when she is better? Thats an awesome get well present a new buddy . The first week or two was the worst in my opinion because Callie wasn't wanting to eat, drink or even go potty so I worried a lot. After that it was simi ok after I got her on a schedule of potty breaks and feedings which she had not been used to because she has a doggy door she would have normally used when she wanted. The whole thing can be stressful and make you worry like crazy. I bought a baby play pen to keep Callie in and it did and is working great for us and I put a crazy comfy bed in there for her, a water bottle with stand, and some of her stuffed toys she likes to sleep with her head on. I was worried with it being cold outside that even if I kept her in a warm shirt and a blankie on her that she would get cold so I bought a snuggle puppy that a lot of people buy when they get a new puppy and didn't keep the heart beat in it but would put the heat packs in there for her and she loves curling up next to it. I would recommend doing physical therapy once a week or every two weeks after surgery because they will give you stretches to do with her at home and tell you when and for how long to start taking her on little walks. About two weeks ago I started letting her walk around the house a little when I could watch her because the physical therapist said that was ok to do but I had to block all the furniture and the stairs and close all the bedrooms so she couldn't jump on the beds. Callie didn't mess with her incision at all so I did not have to use the cone but I got one from a member on here who makes soft cones and I would get the soft cone from her and the link to her post is http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ne-collar.html. If you have an questions about the LP surgery I would be happy to answer them you can send me a private message at anytime. Its hard to see them hurting after surgery but it help if you try to remember it will be worth it when she can run around not in pain.
