Oh Yorkies are sumthin aren't they!

My little girl did so well on the pads her first year and then we moved to the UK from the US and she had to stay at a friends house for months and months before we could get her situated to come over. When we got her back it was like she was never trained and I can't get her to go on her pads unless she is locked in the kitchen which has her pads just off the kitchen in the laundry room.
After daily accidents and much frustration I have decided that no matter what happens I will not let it get in the way of us just having a harmonious life here. LOL She really dislikes being locked in the kitchen and I really dislike cleaning up wee off of rented carpets.

So yesterday I purchased some pants and she now wears them at all times outside of the kitchen. At regular intervals throughout the day I put her in the kitchen and stay in there with her until she goes. I give her a treat and back on with her pants. he is then able to come right back out with me, I know I will have no messes and she isn't stressed having to stay in there.
I don't know yet if it's the right answer but for now everyone is happy and the carpets are clean. I can only hope that in time it helps show her that that is the only acceptable place to use the toilet and if it doesn't and we have to use them indefinitely then so be it.
For your boy it would mean belly bands I think but that wouldn't stop him pooing so maybe more boy owners could help on that front.
I am just a firm believer in giving up not being an option so if we look silly in pants then we look silly in pants.
Oh, I did think a while back about training her to grass sod in the house since it does have a different texture to the pads and carpet since I think the feel of the pads causes them to confuse the two. I think I may move on to that now and see if that helps. Maybe we can figure it out together!
