It's a phase that your pup will outgrow. As others have recommended, be sure to have a variety of chew toys handy and watch him carefully -- my little guy would destroy his toys in a matter of minutes. Romeo also loved to chew on the hem of my jeans and since frayed hems were in style I allowed him to design a few for me :-) Seriously though, I think around 8 months old the chewing dwindled/stopped.
