I've had to cut a little hole for the "D" Ring in several pieces for mine. I tried putting the Harness over the Coats, and it just wasn't all that well fitted, and made me afraid it would slip off if there was a tug o war out there for some reason.
I'd rather take the trouble of cutting the hole, and know the Harness is secure.
