Default Vet doesn't want to see new puppies until 6 weeks?

My friend's dad has a male yorkie he recently bred. The puppies were born a few days ago and we went to see them today. He's getting to keep one of the puppies but since he's keeping a puppy from a litter that was born a few months ago to a different mom, he's offering me the puppy from this litter (landlord approval pending, I talk to them tonight!!)

The lady said she talked to her vet and he told her as long as everything seems ok with the pups, he doesn't need to see them for a wellness exam until he gives them their first shots at six weeks.

This seems very off to me. Shouldn't they be seen a lot sooner than that? Should I be worried?

Also here's some pictures of them and their mom, they're too precious!
