Rocco also does this. When he was very young, we taught "drop it" by NOT chasing him, rather grabbing a bag of shredded cheese from the fridge and command "drop it!"...even as a pup, he was always more interested in the cheese than anything and would come right to me. Then I'd reward him one strand of shredded cheese and say "good boy Drop It!". Worked like a charm. Now sometimes I swear he just finds somethiing to grab so he can have a piece of cheese.
