I live near Amish country... Shipshewana, IN.. THere are so many puppy mills there. I saw one yesterday on my way home from there that was being run as a buisness. It's called Wana Pet : AKC Toy Puppies. The establishment looks nice until you actually look in the back and see the stacked cages with several dogs in each cage. It's so sad. This was my second experience with the Amish puppymills. When I was looking around for a puppy I stopped at an Amish house that just said small breed puppies for sale. This man had like 35+ females and 15+ males. PLus about 10 litters of puppies. It was so sad. After I left I couldn't quit thinking about these poor animals never being able to run in the grass or play. I called the County Animal COntrol and there was nothing she could do because he had a breeders license and the dogs has shelter and food + water. It's just so sad. I want to go one night and release all the dogs from their cages into my car and take them to safety. This is a very big market for the amish. It's so sad and I wish there was something I could do about it. Make sure you never buy from them. IT just supports them doing it. Of course the puppies are cute, but think of all the pain it's poor mother and father are enduring. The mom is being overbred, they are both unsocialized and they may never know what it's like to have the love and company of a human friend. SOrry this is so long but this is something i feel so strongly about.
