I agree that training would be key, but we all know that it doesn't happen overnight, either. In the meantime (while training), perhaps you could install a large x-pen or gate enclosure in area right outside the front door as a safety containment, should she get out. And yes, the kids should be trained as well, but anyone even remotely familiar with kids know that even the best intentioned ones can be forgetful...let alone trying to "train" all of their friends.
