If this were my dog and I were in your shoes, I wouldn't think twice about putting my feelings aside in order to save his life and this is exactly where you are with him.
I am not judging you but, you need to stop putting this on hold and do what's right for the health of your boy and do it now.
Rescue may be your only option in helping your boy if pleading and begging your Vet's office, family & friends (whoever!) to assist you in getting your boy cared for.
To prolong his discomfort is cruelty at best...and I felt it's time to tell you...stop wasting precious time and do what you have to for Walter!
I am so sorry you are in this situation...truly I am but, it's been too long and I'm afraid for your boy.
