Layla CAN be submissive
I have been practicing holding her on her back since she was little. You might want to try using treats- Layla would probably do anything for treats.
The hair in their ears can cause a few issues. The idea is that it keeps crap out, however, if there is too much hair- it can keep bad crap in. Also, it can keep the ear moist which can cause an ear infection.
Plucking, while it seems like it might hurt, doensn't. Layla hardly flinches. Cutting is ok for a while, however, your dog will eventually get a build up of hair deeper in their ear.
