Personally I have a pen and a crate...at night she goes in her crate, during the day, while I am at work she goes in her pen. The pen has enough room for her to move around in, several toys, her water bowl and her food bowl and a nice size bed. I dont feel so bad leaving her in her pen. Its very roomy, she is safe, and she has everything a Yorkie could need. First thing I do when I get home is scoop her up and take her outside to relieve herself. She has never had an accident in her pen or her crate. She can be in there for as little as four hours or as long as six and a half. Momma has to work to make the $ so Sunny gets everything she wants and desires. Rest assured...when we are home, she has free range of the home. i wouldnt do the bathroom thing.....never worked for me and my other dogs....there is always something to get into and eat or destroy...just my .02
