I know how you feel! I had the same problem with Gizmo a few months back. Then I asked my vet about it, and he told me that it has alot to do with being the "alpha male" I know that sounds wierd. But in the doggie world, there is always one dog who eats first, sits the highest, does everything first. So hear is what he told me to do, when you are going to take him out to pee, put him on a leash. When you get to the front door stop and make him sit there, then you walk out the door first, then you tell him to come when you are already through the door. When you are inside and say you are sitting on the couch or something, always make sure he is lower to the ground than you, (don't let him on the back of the couch, or by your shoulders, etc. He also told me just to not let him up on the couch, to make him lay on the floor, but I have found that Gizmo is fine with knowing who is the boss, as long as I sit higher than him. Your whole goal is to establish dominance. But at the same time you have to remember that if he is not an adult yet, that he can still have accidents. And about the pee pad, we have them for gizmo, and if he pee's on one just a little, you have to put a fresh one down because he won't go on it twice. Also, some of the pee pads have special scent on them to attract them to pee just on the pad. But when you go outside just make sure you walk out first, keep him on the leash, and use lots of praise when he does good. I hope that this has been of some help to you. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know.
