I've heard of sturbridge farms. I ran across their listing for certain breeds on dogbreedinfo.com. I also recall emailing them on certain breeds, asking prices and etc. I did get a response but I felt the prices were kinda high and also the person that contacted me did not seem to be the actual breeder. Seemed to me like a broker type thing and I left it at that. Now I'm not saying thats what it is cause I really do not know but I moved on.
It seems a big portion of the amish around here do breed. Perhaps run puppymills, I really dont know. I know you could usually tell in their voice over the phone(also they list no sunday calls in their newspaper ads.) When I bought my bichon from a private breeder she said she would make it clear to any amish that called that she would not sell to them. But it doesnt mean everyone in PA is amish and full of bad breeders.
I would do a search for info on the type of payment they are asking you for.
I've lived in PA for about 1.5 years, moved from NYC so I'm not too familiar with things around here.
