A few days of change can seem like alot to these lil pups sometimes. My kids were both just home from University for Thanksgiving and ZoE was depressed when they left. She's depressed for a couple of days anytime either of them come home for a weekend and leave, which I find a bit unusual as she's not quite a year old and didn't grow up with them and has only ever seen them on weekend or holiday visits. So I know these lil pups can be sensitive to people and change.
As your pup is 3 years old and you have a busy schedule, it seems like he'd be used to it. I'd probably have the vet check him over incase anything medical is going on with him that could be causing the change in behaviour.
