You can empty them yourself. Really up to you and if your vet is comfortable with it. I do it myself. No way am I paying for somebody to do something I'm capable of doing. If he doesn't do it anymore, then you can stil empty them to be safe, but I'd be leaving them. The vet dentist probably gets this kind of thing sometimes. I would not ask them to do it though, but that's me.
