We have hawks around here but the ones I have seen are not all that big. However, I have seen some huge owls out in the early morning. I'll never forget the morning I went out to start my car and get it warmed up and a shadow moved silently over my head. I looked up and saw a huge owl about to land on a tree limb a few yards in front of me. It was the biggest bird I have ever seen. It was broad daylight and this guy sat there staring at me like I was the one that did not belong there!

I wonder if chicken farmers or others that have smaller live stock have ways of dealing with hawks and owls? I have heard some awful stories about owls flying down and trying to get small dogs that are being walked on leashes in the morning hours as well as before sunset.
