I have to agree w LadyJane, please stay away from craigslist, ebay, those kinds of internet ads. We have had several members on here reply to those ads just to find the yorkie was not as represented in the ad - no papers, not vetted, no shots, not neutered, health problems, and even not the age claimed by the seller.

There are rescues available. Also, if you look up Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's website, they have a breeder referral page (ytca.org). This list includes the breeders from this code of ethics breeders' club from different states. Sometimes breeders have older "pups" they kept hoping would work out for show but did not for one reason or another (coloring not right, size not right, etc). I got a year old and an 18 month old from one of these breeders in my area. Nice dogs: already neutered, housetrained, vetted - just did not turn out to be show quality.
