I don't know as much about AKC registration and such like so many of the others do, but my first Yorkie was AKC registered -- however she was not a perfect example of a Yorkie. She did, however, has a great personality and I enjoyed 13 years of love and devotion from her -- she had a number of health problems (probably genetic) battled all of them and she was just great through all of it. So I'm not sure having or not having an AKC certification may be all that important.
My current Yorkie is an almost perfect Yorkie -- if there is such a thing, she is it! Of course, I am not un-prejudiced in my opinion!!! LOL
I love her dearly, but not more than my previous Yorkie, AKC credentials are not the main thing when it comes to love.
My Cali is a Service Dog, but remarkably most Service Dogs are not AKC registered dogs, but WOW what they provide for their handlers!!!
The hard part is the place you are in now -- raising a puppy is hard work, isn't it. Cali has slept with me since the 3rd night I had her, but I agree that you should not do that unless it is your plan.
Good Luck and Dog Bless you!!!!
