It's hard to answer that question, many have purchased from byb's and not all the dogs have genetic problems, but the problem is so many do. Many of these problems can be fixed, but it's expensive, for example, knee surgery is around $1600 per leg, and that's such a common problem. The hardest part is you will become unbelievably attached to your Yorkie, and the emotional costs are extremely high when your baby has genetic problems.
Did she say why she didn’t have the breeding pair? Another thing that you should be aware of, is puppy mill breeders often sell their dogs through regular homes, and you need to make sure the breeding pair are being treated properly, otherwise these greeders get away with abusing dogs.
If I were you, I'd cancel the sale, if she doesn't return your deposit, it's even more proof, she's a poor breeder.
