Great thread!! Remember anything can contribute to the cause of eye gunk and tear stains. Yorkies are prone to watery eyes and food, treats, water, allergies, and pollen can be a cause.
Something's that have helped mine are making sure they drink from a stainless steel bowl, and watching how they react to changes. My boys are on a raw diet and eat freeze dried raw treats but they get all kinds of goodies here and there. (Cheerios, carrots, cucumbers, apples etc)
We were in NYC for 2 months and due to their water they had horrible, red, eye gunk!! It was nasty! 1 month after we got back to MI they were back to normal. I'm thinking it was the water and pollution changes. Be sure to wait atleast a month-2 months to see changes.
I can change Snickers's treats and see eye gunk, it's frustrating!!
Reesie has clear eye gunk right now which I am ok with. Better than the red gunk!! I am going to try the Gerber Water!! Thanks for the suggestion!
